This is the fairly rare 'mountainous terrain' that can be found in X-Com: UFO.
We have here a 4 × 4 large map with a downed medium scout manned with sectoids. The X-Com soldiers are the very same ones seen in the group shot screenshot.
See that huge mound to the south of the Skyranger? The one with the odd break in the stone right in the corner. That's actually a cave. The odd coloured bit is the entrance.
By the by, if you're wondering how the original X-Com UFO would have looked like in a larger resolution... well, you're looking at it.
